| ABOUT R. T. JAMES R.T. James is a multifaceted woman. By the early age of fourteen she designed and later patented a revolutionary golf tee. She refers to it as her “hole in one” tee. During her college years at Rutgers University an opportunity presented itself to operate a restaurant in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. The following years she owned additional restaurants in New Jersey and Cape Cod while balancing a career in TV, film and developing new product ideas. BAG-A-LITE is her favorite invention. R. T., like most women, could never find anything in that bottomless pit. After many broken fingernails and ruined manicures, she decided to do something about it. Using state of the art technology, she invented, designed and patented the world’s first handbag that completely illuminates from the bottom up. R. T. James grew up on the Atlantic Coast in the southern town of Cape May, New Jersey. Her love for the ocean and the beach prevails to this day. She presently resides in Florida. Two memorable experiences in her life are when she was invited to be a contestant in the Miss America Pageant and when she married the love of her life, Mayor Ralph James of Wildwood, New Jersey. Shortly after the honeymoon, R. T. and Mayor James were cruising on the Mississippi when the idea to buy an old plantation and turn it into a Bed & Breakfast arose. That’s exactly what they did! They purchased an estate near New Orleans that was badly in need of love and restoration. With an acute eye for detail, R.T. completely restored it right down to the brass hinges gleaming on every door. Mayor James was so impressed with the exquisite job R.T. had done that he renamed the mansion Bella Rose, in honor of his wife. R.T. and the Mayor entertained politicians, movie stars and dignitaries from around the world in their beautifully restored home. When guests would arrive they always wanted to know, "Who was the most famous person to stay at the mansion?" R.T. would always reply, "you!" She has a way of making everyone feel special. She has a genuine love for people and is always first to lend a helping hand. R.T's next entrepreneurial adventure was the remarkable development of the BAG-A-LITE product line. R.T.'s love for animals from a little girl exists to this day. She is pictured on the beach and at the Bella Rose with her faithful companions, Superman and Mr. Cody.
